Solar thermal radiant heat and domestic hot water

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

The idea is to move to zero fuel primary systems. Propane fireplace will now be back up only. Adding solar thermal collectors to roof, with water tank for heat storage in garage, and radiant tubing under the new floor. We have found that the current dark tile floor is always colder than the air, and is unpleasantly cold in the winter. It is not functioning as a thermal mass to heat the house because there is not sufficient thermal gain through the windows. So we will add heat to the floor from radiant collectors on the roof. Explain how system works with diagrams and pictures.
